17 April - Urgent Notice
Urgent Notice to all Scottish Clubs From the Regatta Organising Committee
Strathclyde Park Regatta 22-23 April 2006 HELP!! HELP!! HELP!!
Due to a last minute let down from our normal source of Stakeboat and Timing Personnel, we require all competeing clubs to volunteer two individuals for each day to help with these functions. It need not be the same two people all day, but cover is required for the duration of the regatta.
The ROC will continue to pursue other avenues this week in the hope that another source of personnel may be found, but at this late stage appeals to the Clubs to be prepared to provide assistance.
Volunteers should be 14 years or older and will be provided with life jackets and waterproof gear (though if you have some, do bring it!). They should be dressed warmly (no Wellington Boots), have a change of clothes and are advised to wear sun cream on faces, even if it does not seem particularly sunny. Packed lunches will be provided.
Manning requirements:
At the 2000m start 16 people are needed to operate the moving pontoons. In addition 6 people are required to man the timing boxes. For the 1000m course 8 people are needed to hold the boats and 2 for the timing boxes. Full operational and safety instructions will be given to those who volunteer.
Please send the names, contact numbers and email addresses of your volunteers by 19:00 on Wednesday 19th to Duncan Walker holmhurst@btinternet.com, 01505 612495 or John McKinney john.mckinney1@ntlworld.com, 01505 345478.
A rota will then be formulated and sent out by email where possible.
Thank you.

In second place on the medal table was St Mungo Academy with Shawlands and Notredame third equal. The next Glasgows Schools event will be the Summer Championships on the 21st June 2006. The application form for boat hire will be put on the website at the same time as the draw; clubs will then have until 6pm on Wednesday 19th April to complete and return the form.
