Henley Royal Regatta: Scottish crews have been racing yesterday and today. In the Temple, Edinburgh University went out to Imperial College on Wednesday. Glasgow University had a tight race against Jesus College, Cambridge yesterday and have won through against Newcastle University today. They progress to the quarter-finals tomorrow.

In the Britannia, Aberdeen Boat Club had to come from behind to beat City of Oxford. They race again tomorrow. Jonny and Chris Logan have won their first round in the Double Sculls and go on to race Wells and Rowbotham (the GB heavyweight double) tomorrow.

Missing seats: Clyde ARC have mislaid the seats for their smallest janousek double. They were in the boat at Scot Champs but have not been seen since. The seats are marked CLYDE W LWT 2X and with STROKE and BOW on them and it would be great if anyone could help find them - please let Caitie Gorton know if you've seen them.

Henley Royal Regatta: Henley starts tomorrow, with a number of Scottish crews racing. Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities race in the Temple Challenge Cup (student eights), Aberdeen Boat Club race in the Britannia Challenge Cup (club coxed fours) and the Logan brothers of Glasgow University race in the Double Sculls Challenge Cup. Edinburgh University were unlucky not to qualify in the student fours event, finishing as the fastest non-qualifiers in last Fridays qualifying time trial.

Lost in Glasgow: 1 set Croker sculls: These have fluorescent pink sleeves and handles, and are smoothie hatchet blades, probably in original white but possibly they have been painted Clydesdale blue. Markers are 2 blue electrical tape strips on shafts, George Sims sales sticker on shafts and they may say "Tracy Duncan" faintly on sleeves. Please check for these at the back of your boathouse. Last seen in Glasgow Schools boathouse in December. If you find them, please call Tracy Duncan on 07790 871915.

Nithsdale Regatta: This regatta has been rescheduled for 2 September. More details to follow.

SARA EGM: At Sunday's special general meeting of the Association, a proposal by Glasgow University seeking that coaching from the bank be allowed at Head races was defeated. However, it was achknowledged that the debate saw some useful points aired, and the Umpires' Commission volunteered to discuss the isssues with Glasgow University should they wish.

The presentation of detailed amendments to SARA's Data Protection Policy was carried forward to November's AGM.

The meeting also agreed that SARA will establish a Participation Database. As a first step, the clubs agreed that they would provide numbers and categories of members, and their best estimate of "equity" information required to be submitted by SARA to sportscotland and other bodies (this includes ethnic origins, disability, gender and age category breakdowns etc).

In addition individuals will be able to register their details direct with the Association (name, contact and age indication - this latter being required to establish a "bar" on juniors being registered) Once registered, individuals can voluntarily provide their own "equity" details.

All of this activity will comply with legal requirements, including the Data Protection Act. The final model of the database will be presented for ratification at the November AGM.

Carrie McKenzie, the Association's new full-time Participation Manager also attended the meeting briefly. She will start her employment in August.

It was also announced that the Association's new Child Porection and Vulnarable Adults Officer will be Geraldine Neil (MIke Haggerty's wife, who, professionally, is West Dunbartonshire's Child Protection Officer). Peter Morrison remains available to assist in this role, particularly with Disclosure Scotland applications and the like.

The Executive also repeated a plea for volunteers to join them, particularly to fill the roles of Secretary, Treasurer, Safety Officer and Governance Officer. Anyone interested should contact Jo Ramsay.

Scot Champs Results: Never say the ROC isn't efficient! The full results from Scottish Championships are here (pdf format). Despite the sunshine over the weekend, conditions were challenging at some times, with the wind varying from a cross-head, to straight headwind, and back again.

Its got JR Wherrett written on the front so its easily identifiable and it was last seen in the SARA boatbays on Sunday lunchtime. Bob Neill, George Heriots School RCSARA Awards Dinner: Bob Neill, Master in Charge of George Heriots School Rowing Club and Secretary of the Scottish Schools Rowing Council, was honoured at the weekend's dinner for his many years of service to Scottish rowing.

Physics students in the Scottish rowing community should pay attention to the image from this year's exams, featuring the rarely seen coxed six-scull. Perhaps this is the solution to finding room to spin octuples on the Union Canal in Edinburgh!
