Level 2 Coaching Course: The National Rowing Academy will be holding a Level 2 coaching course in May for all interested parties. The course will be held on the weekends of the 12th/13th and 19th/20th May. It may be necessary to include an additional evening to complete the capsize drill element of the course.

Due to the need to register with the ARA and 1st4Sport (the cross sport accreditation organisation) it is important that anyone wishing to take part on the course completes an application form and forwards the course fee before the deadline of Thursday 12th April. As there is some pre-course work that needs to be completed by each candidate and materials that need to be ordered in advance, anyone missing this deadline will not be able to attend the course.

The course fee is £250 (£195 of which is the course fee including all materials, levied by the ARA). Application forms are downloadable from this website. All forms and fees should be sent to Jo Ramsay at the National Rowing Academy, 366 Hamilton Road, Motherwell ML1 3ED. Any enquiries should be addressed to Kevin Watson by email at kevin.watson@scottish-rowing.org.uk.

Results from the National Junior Sculling and Schools Head: Junior rowers from around Scotland were racing at Dorney Lake and the Tideway this week. George Watson's College MJ15 4x+ won their event at the Sculling Head on Wednesday and then went on to win the MJ15 4+ event at the School's Head yesterday. George Heriot's School WJ14 4x+ picked up the bronze medal at the Sculling Head after just 6 months of sculling. George Watson's College MJ 4+, following on from their Anglo-French match selection last year, won their event at the Schools Head, the first time a Scottish crew has won that event in many many years. Congratulations to all the medalists and their coaches.

SARA Final Trial: The list of athletes invited to the final trial for HIR selection is now available on the International Rowing page, along with the results of the February long-distance trial held in Inverness.

Strathclyde Park Safety Notice: Strathclyde Park Loch Rescue have communicated a safety concern with boats taking to the water with less than their intended crew complement, such as an 8 with only seven rowers. As well as causing confusion to safety launch drivers as to whether or not someone has just fallen overboard, there are implications with regard to a head count in the event of an incident or an emergency. If rowing craft are going on the water minus crew, please inform the reception at the Watersports centre so that this information may be recorded and passed onto Loch Rescue.
