Level 2 Coaching Course: The National Rowing Academy will be holding a Level 2 coaching course on the 20/21 and 27/28 October 20th/21st. An additional assessment day will be arranged with candidates during the course. Due to the need to register with the ARA and 1st4Sport (the cross sport accreditation organisation) it is important that anyone wishing to take part on the course completes an application form and forwards the course fee before the deadline of Friday 14 September. There is pre-course work that needs to be completed by each candidate and materials that need to be ordered in advance, therefore anyone missing this deadline will not be able to attend the course.
The course fee is £250 (£195 of which is the course fee including all materials, levied by the ARA). Clubs registering three candidates for the course will have the cost of the third candidate reduced to £125. Clubs wishing to take advantage of this should send all their applications together. SARA members coaching in Scotland successfully completing the course will be eligible for completion grants of up to £100.
Application forms are downloadable here. All forms and fees should be sent to Jo Ramsay at the National Rowing Academy, 366 Hamilton Road, Motherwell ML1 3ED. Any enquiries should be made to graeme.cunningham@gmail.com.

Aberdeen Sprint Regatta: The draw and other important information regarding the Aberdeen Sprint Regatta on Sunday is now published on the Committee of the Dee site at http://cofd.co.uk.
Inverness Sprint Photographs: Snapper Ron had a strenuous day at the Inverness Sprint as he competed in 7 races (a lot for a man of his age). In a number of races he had to be pulled down the course by the lovely Sarah and Hazel – thanks to both of them. A limited range of photographs is available on the Committee of the Dee website. These also show a junior Ergo championship which was taking place in the luncheon break (whilst the Queen (yes really!) sailed by, along the Caledonian Canal).

Aberdeen Sprint: Reminder that entries for the Aberdeen Sprint close at 12 noon on Sunday 19th August. Snapper Ron would also like to note that he has published pictures from the dry-ish Men's Henley and also from the swashbuckling Pirates of the CariDee’n party held at Aberdeen Boat Club last Saturday.
Clyde Sprints: Unfortunately, the Clyde Sprints have had to be cancelled this year due to the Great Scottish Run.

Coupe de la Jeunesse 2007: Thanks to John Sarahs for this report.
Laggo di Varese, at the foot of the Alps was basked in glorious sunshine last weekend with an average temperature of 36 degrees for the 2007 Coupe which was all the more competitive due to the fact that a number of countries did not send athletes to the World Championships in Beijing because of distance and cost. On Saturday Murray Wilkojc won Gold in the MJ4+ after the Spanish crew were disqualified after the race due their cox not having weighed in. Alistair Sarahs in the MJ8+ finished in fourth place, 0.76 secs behind third placed France in a time of 5:49:09. On Sunday Murray won Silver in the MJ4+ just behind the Spanish who were out to make amends for Saturday. Alistair in the 8+ finished fifth in a closely fought "A" final. Both young rowers said it had been a great experience and one they'll remember for a long time.
Aberdeen Sprint Regatta: Details of the Aberdeen Sprint Regatta which will be held on Sunday 26th August are now posted on the Committee of the Dee website. On the same site you will find Snapper Ron’s output from the World Under 23 Regatta held at Strathclyde Park last week.
Transport needed: Alistair Duff (Inverness RC) is needing to get his scull down to Aylings in Cambridge for repair. If anyone can help with transport from Scotland, please contact Alistair.
