Rowing Action: The deadline for the next edition of Rowing Action is tomorrow. Ailie Ord will extend this until Monday 5 November, and would appreciate it is she could be emailed by anyone intending on submitting any stories/pictures/articles/etc.
Dreher Blades: The demonstration Dreher blades (set of 4 sweeps, 3 sets of big blade sculls, 1 set apex sculls and 1 set lollipop sculls) will be returning south soon. Glasgow Green Speed Limit: A timely reminder from the Glasgow clubs about the speed limit on Glasgow Green. Please observe the 5mph speed limit whilst driving to the clubs located on the Green and please use your hazard lights. Driving in the Green is a privilege which rowers have and we do not want to lose it!

Clyde Head: The provisional draw for Saturday's head race on the Clyde is now available. Clyde ARC has secured sponsorship from German brewpub WEST. Winners of the Mens and Womens Novice 4+ events will each win a keg each of the finest authentic German beer. A third keg (holding a staggering 88 Pints!) will be raffled, along with several party sized kegs, at WEST on Saturday evening, party starting from 7pm. There will also be big screen videos of the day's racing.

Chester Long Distance Sculls: News from earlier this month - there were some Scottish successes at the Chester Long Distance Sculls. Imogen Walsh (Clyde ARC) won WS21x and MS24x was won by Jonny Logan, James Murphy (Clyde ARC), Sean Dixon and Jonathan Rankin (George Watsons RC) while a number of junior events were won by the George Watsons College squads (Photograph of the quad courtesy of Brian Flumen, http://picasaweb.google.com/brian.flumen).

Results from Clydesdale Head: The results are now up. Fastest man of the day was Jonny Logan of Clyde ARC, closely followed by Chris Logan, Glasgow University BC; the fastest woman was Kelly Limond of Loch Ard ARC.

International Rowing: The minutes of the recent Performance Planning Group meeting are now on-line along with details of the GB/Scotland early ID trial on 20 and 21 October in Inverness. The documents can be also be found on the International page.
Amsterdam Masters Regatta: Glasgow Rowing Club and North British Rowing Club brought back medals in the International race at the end of the Amsterdam Masters regatta on the River Amstel on Saturday. Paul Mackie of Glasgow Rowing Club and Andy Christie of North British Rowing Club helped the successful crew reach the finish line in the 800-metre sprint race - by a distance of two feet. The composite crew comprised North British Rowing Club, Glasgow Rowing Club, New Orleans Rowing Club and Portadown Boat Club.

Funding for High Performance Coaches: The SARA Performance Planning Group (PPG) has funding available for high performance coaches for personal education (development). The attached document explains more fully what the scheme is about and interested coaches should submit an application, using the standard form, to Peter Barton, SARA High Performance Co-ordinator at Peter.Barton@scottish-rowing.org.uk. Prospective applications are encouraged.
