Events offered include: Open and 'Club' eights, some Veteran Novice categories and a Ju12 event over a 250m course, raced in Alden 1x 'committee boats' (thanks to Clydesdale ARC for providing additional craft for this event). Details are on this website and can also be found on the GRC website. The on-line entry system will be available from Sunday 22 March. Entries close on Sunday 5 April.

Universities Winter League: Dundee University continued the good performances they have shown all year and clinched the Universities Winter League for the first time at the Aberdeen head. They have not only won for the first time but also with a record score, with Edinburgh also beating the previous record. Dundee will be presented with the Thornton Trophy at the Universities AGM held over the Universities Championship weekend.

Women's Eights Head of the River Race: Seven crews from Scotland look part in yesterday's race on the Tideway, held in good, warm conditions with a slight wind which stiffened during the race. This was the largest field for the women's head ever, with 300 crews entered and 291 crews starting. The fastest Scottish crew were the composite Clyde/Edinburgh University/Glasgow RC/Glasgow University crew, who finished in a phenomenal 6th place. The highest placed single club crew were Clydesdale ARC who finished in 33rd place and 5th of the S3 crews. Almost holding their start position of 65, Edinburgh University A finished 68th, and won the S4 pennant.

Scottish Schools Head: Please note that is an amendment to Rule 3 in the events, rules and entry document. This now states that "A club or school may enter a crew composed of rowers who satisfy Rule 1 above providing all the individual members of that crew hold a Scottish rowing licence for that club or school. If, however, a crew is entirely composed of pupils from a SINGLE SCHOOL and that School is registered with the Scottish Schools' Rowing Council its entry will be accepted, regardless of the origin of the individuals' Scottish Rowing licences." If you require SSRC registration forms, please contact Bob Neill.

Universities Winter League: The current standing in the winter league are as below. With only one event to go in Aberdeen on the 14th March it looks like Dundee will win the winter league for the first time. Edinburgh have an outside chance of catching Dundee but this would require some amazing results from Edinburgh and an unusually poor performance from Dundee. In the middle Aberdeen have passed Heriot Watt and Glasgow are safe in 3rd.

Strathclyde Park Regatta: The details for SPR 2009 and the Scottish Universities Championships are now available on the right hand side of this page and the events and results page. For only the second time in the events 13 year history, the Robert Gordon University celebrated a fine win by one length over Aberdeen University in 8 minutes 3 seconds, just two seconds outside the record time set two years ago. Aberdeen University won both the Alumni race in a new record time, as well as winning the shorter second crews race.
