GUBC - Ten-in-a-Row: To Celebrate their Men's First VIII winning streak of Scottish Boat Races against Edinburgh University BC, GUBC have launched a '2000-2009: Ten-in-a-Row' Commemorative Tie which was unveiled a the Club's annual dinner on November 21st. The handmade silk necktie features an especially commissioned design that represents a step away from the traditional striped club tie - the pattern is based on elements of the club's crest and stealthily incorporates the ten-in-a-row motto. For more information and to secure a tie email ten.in.a.row@googlemail.com. Other high quality Ten-in-a-Row commemorative products are available in the online shop (all profit goes to GUBC).

All contributions, plus any appropriate photographs, will be most appreciated. Submission of details and pictures to Roy Sinclair no later than Monday 30th November 2009.

Restrictions at Strathclyde Park, 23 November to 1 December: Use of Strathclyde Park will be resticted to the top 1000 meters from mid-week of the week beginning 23rd November until 1st December due to the rowing jetties being placed across the course. This also means that boats will need to be launched either from the medal pontoons or directly off the pebbles (wellies advised!).

Glasgow Fours Head - Postponed: Following an inspection of parts of the race course today and, taking into account the forecast rainfall over the next 36 hours, the organisers have made the decision to postpone the race. The decision is based on the assumption that the conditions on Saturday are likely to be little better than today. At the moment, due to the very strong stream that is running, it would not be safe to run the event, for a variety of reasons- simply marshalling more than 50 fours at either the 5k or the 4k start areas would be difficult. On Saturday it may turn out that conditions have improved and the race could have been held but the decision needs to be made before boats are loaded and journeys are made, so - sorry.

The race had been very well subscribed and GRC would like to offer sincere thanks to everyone who had offered to race, to Umpire or to help in whatever capacity. They intend to apply for another date for a rescheduled race. Possible dates are 21 November, 28 November and 5 December. GRC will publish information about that as soon as possible. Any cheques received for Saturday's race will be destroyed, unless their return is requested.

Inverness Head: Reminder that entries for the Inverness Fours and Small Boats Heads close at 6pm on Sunday. Further details on the IRC website.

ASRA Octople Pictures from Aberdeen HOR weekend: Snapper Ron has published pictures from the sunny (Saturday) and very wet (Sunday) Aberdeen HOR weekend. Various shots feature the Snapper himself and thanks to Scott Purdie and Stuart Pressage for taking pictures at that time. You can see the rain stotting off the water in some of Sunday’s pictures but they do not reflect how drenchingly wet it was at times. Fortunately, the really bad weather came through about 3 hours after the end of racing when folk were splashing their way homewards.

GRC Fours Head - weather: The organisers are looking carefully at the weather forecasts for the weekend. The river level was dangerously high this morning. Worryingly, the current weather forecast predicts heavy rain on Friday. Obviously, they are very reluctant to postpone such a well-supported event, but may have no option. The decision will be made as soon as possible and any information will be posted on this website.

Dr Sarju Patel Funeral details: The funeral for Sarju Patel will be this Saturday (7th November) at 12pm at Mortlake Crematorium.
