ASRA at the J16 GB Trials: As a result of outstanding performances at the Under 16 GB Trials at the English National Watersports Centre, Nottingham, on Sunday 27. June, ASRA's Women's Junior 16 Coxed Fours Scottish Champions - Christie Duff, Holly Reid, Jaimie Rees and Emily Geddes - have been selected to row the Women's Coxless Four at the GB v France Match to be held this year in Nantes on 11 July. ASRA girls were previously capped for this prestigious event in 2008 at Valenciennes, where they rowed stroke four in the GB Eight.

Henley Royal Regatta: Several Scottish crews are racing at Henley Royal, which starts this Wednesday. In the Silver Goblets and Nickalls Challenge Cup (Pairs), both Jonny and Chris Logan (Glasgow RC) and Colin Wallace and Scott Purdie (Deeside Scullers) qualified in last Friday's timetrial, alongside ex-EUBC rower Stan Livy. Glasgow University have qualified in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup (academic 4+) as has James Murphy of Clyde ARC in the Diamond Challenge Sculls. Imogen Walsh, also of Clyde ARC, will race in the Princess Grace Challenge Cup (W4x) in a composite with London RC and Jen Reid, Edinburgh University BC, will be racing in a TSS/Sport Imperial/Molesey/Agecroft/EUBC composite crew in the Remenham Challenge Cup (W8+).

Henley Womens Regatta: No Scottish crews in the finals at HWR, although a number of crews did make it to the semi-finals. New Clydesdale 8 Clydesdale Boat Launching: Last week, Clydesdale ARC launched their brand new Filippi F41 Eight called "Ben y Vrackie". Thanks to sponsorship from Henry Abrams and Sons, grants from Awards for All, Sportsmatch, Culture and Sport Glasgow and the Sports Council for Glasgow - the club has made the most significant investment in its recent history. Cllr Archie Graham of Glasgow 2014 invited the sponsors to name the boat before the inaugural crew rowed away to excited cheers from the bank.

Safety Issue - Heel Restraints in Wintec boats: The restraint in these boats is attached to the metal loop on the shoe by means of a plastic clip. If this clip is turned the wrong way round when it is attached to the metal loop it has a tendency to detatch itself, thus making the restraint useless. All owners of Wintecs therefore would do well to check up on how these clips are attached - the correct way round for the attachment is so that when the heel is lifted the opening on the clip faces away from the shoe - ie toward the bow of the boat.

Munich World Cup: A TV schedule for the Munich World Cup this weekend can be fond on the British Rowing website: www.britishrowing.org/news/coverage-rowing-world-cup.

HIR Junior Coaches Meeting: There will be meeting at 2PM on Sunday in the National Rowing Centre for the coaches of junior athletes seeking selection for the Scotland Junior Teams for the 2010 Home International Regatta. This will be an opportunity for coaches to have discussions with the junior team selectors.

Deeside Scullers, winners of Elite 2- Metropolitan Regatta: Report from Snapper Ron:
A raiding party from Scotland enjoyed various successes at the Metropolitan Regatta held at Dorney Lake on 4th & 5th of June. Alan Holmes and Matt Loader of Glasgow RC won the Poke Cup for Mens Senior Pairs on Saturday and on Sunday Scott Purdie and Colin Wallace, racing as Deeside Scullers, won both Senior Coxless Pairs and Elite Coxless Pairs, notching up more wins for their new boat Ithaca. The Bartons of Clydesdale RC, rowing in Int1 Coxless Pairs cooled down in the heat by flipping their boat as they left the jetty (good idea to make sure both gates are tightened lads!) Sadly (or not) Carol, who was taking pictures, just missed this bit of action. Other pictures from Carol are published on the Committee of the Dee website http://cofd.co.uk
Full results from the Met Regatta can be found on www.metregatta.org.
