Missing blades: A set of new Concept2 smoothie, adjustable sculling blades have gone missing from the Glasgow Schools Boathouse. The blades are painted blue and have a blue collar with clips and orange Stampfli grips, serial number 0300347. If anyone has seen them, could they please contact Chris Graveling on 01259 729353 - the blades have sentimental value, as they were a gift from Chris's late father, so she would very much appreciate having them back.
GB Trials, Boston: There were a number of Scottish rowers racing in Boston yesterday, at the second senior GB trial. Jim McGhie: The Scottish rowing community will be saddened to learn that Jim McGhie, who was previously Convenor of Racing Control, passed away this morning. Jim had been diagnosed with an aneurysm which started to leak. He was taken into hospital on Friday and died this morning.
The funeral is at Daldowie Crematorium on Friday at 11.30 and afterwards at the Burnside Hotel. Young Jim has advised that his father did not want black ties and the family would not be wearing them.
Jim's contribution, ably assisted by his wife Ann, both to Scottish Rowing and to Clydesdale ARC in particular over very many years, was immense. Only last month he attended both the Umpires meeting and the SARA AGM and did his bit at the recent Masters Regatta at Strathclyde Park. Even though he was no longer actively involved still took a keen interest in events.
The thoughts of his many friends in rowing are with Ann and the family at this time.
Double wanted for hire: Dundee University are looking to hire a 70-75kg double. See the Sales and Wants page for more information.
