Good coaches are always looking to expand their knowledge and keep up to date with current thinking.

There are various generic and rowing specific development opportunities available to coaches. Scottish Rowing runs periodic workshops for coaches on a variety of topics. Details of upcoming workshops will be posted on this page when available.

Sportscotland in conjunction with Sportscoach UK run a series of workshops and seminars. Details of these are available from: sportscotland

Sportscoach UK also has a good website with various tools and resources for coaches. See Sportscoach UK

A number of local authorities also offer workshops and courses for coaches. Some Local Authorities will also provide funding for coaching courses – see the relevant website below.

Upcoming Courses

Capsize and Recovery Training

Who can attend?

Anyone who will be running Capsize and Recovery sessions at their club.

This workshop is also a prerequisite for anyone wanting to attend a UKCC Level 2 Club Coach course (Sliding Seat). Next Level 2 Club Coach Course can be found here: http://scottish-rowing.org.uk/index.php/takingpart/coaching/ukcccoachingcourses

How is the workshop structured?

This workshop has a mixture of both theory (including video) and practical; this will involve a practical session in a pool during which you will perform a Capsize and Recovery in a single scull, so you should be prepared to get wet. It is advisable to perform the capsize in your rowing kit to simulate a real-life event. Bring a change of clothes and a towel, and also a plastic folder to keep your course materials dry.
