Henley Royal Regatta Charitable Trust Coach

British Rowing are currently seeking applicants for a Henley Royal Regatta Charitable Trust Coach (HRRCTC) that would be based at the Scottish Rowing Centre at Strathclyde Park in Motherwell.

British Rowing, in partnership with the Henley Royal Regatta Charitable Trust, Sport England and the Rowing Community, offers scholarships to graduates to deliver this highly successful programme. Scholarship positions are suitable for those wishing to spend two years combining part-time coaching of young people with studying for a part-time sport related postgraduate qualification. This role is designed to broaden the appeal of the sport by supporting young people who would not normally have the opportunity to try rowing, specifically focussing on young people with a disability, youngsters from low-income families and BAME groups.

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or someone who is due to graduate in the next year who is wishing to embark upon a coaching career in rowing.

The closing date for applications for this role is 30th July 2019

Six Scots set for GB France Match

Six Scottish rowers have been selected to represent Great Britain at the GB France Junior 16 Match taking place at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham on Thursday 11th July.

Oscar Forbes, Ashley Geddes, Archie Innes and Matthew Hughson from Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association (ASRA) have been selected in the junior men’s coxless four after winning their recent trial against crews from Shiplake College, Walton Rowing Club and Eton College.

Glasgow Academy duo Emily Milne and Orla Johnson will team up in the junior women’s pair in the annual match between some of the leading Junior 16 athletes in Great Britain and France.

Scottish rowers shared in five titles and record performances at Henley Women's Regatta

Scottish rowers shared in five titles and record performances at this year’s Henley Women’s Regatta as over 1,700 athletes competed at the premier regatta for women in the UK.  Twenty-five crews representing Scottish clubs made the journey south to compete on the world-famous waters, competing as part of an international field with entries from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA.

World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals - Shenzhen, China

The World Rowing Beach Sprints will be taking place in Shenzhen, China between 25-27 October.  FISA is developing this new format of rowing as a potential future Olympic event.

British Rowing has published a selection policy for athletes wishing to be considered for the 7-person team.  This document also includes information on selection criteria for coxswains and for those interested in the Boat/Handler coach role.

GB RETURN FOR RIO SILVER MEDALLIST SWANN

Scottish Championships opens to non Scots Masters and Para rowers for the first time

Organisers of this year’s Scottish Rowing Championships (7-9 June) are urging competitors from non Scottish clubs to enter the Masters and Para competitions as these categories open for the first time to athletes outside of Scotland.
 
This should be welcome news to athletes who are planning to compete in the British Rowing Masters Championships (15-16 June) the weekend after the Scottish Championships at the Strathclyde Park venue.

Scottish Rowing welcomes new Junior Development Coaches

Lindsay Flockhart, Holly Reid and Jordan Stanley have been appointed volunteer coaches with the Scottish Rowing Junior Development Programme which aims to help junior rowers from clubs across Scotland achieve their potential in the sport.
