Scotland’s Olympic-standard rowing course at Strathclyde Park, complete with up-grades that include an expanded finish tower and a brand-new albano buoying system, plays host to full international racing when the rowing programme of the multi-sports European Championships starts on Thursday 2nd August.

Glasgow’s Josh Armstrong became World Champion for the second time today, in the process helping Great Britain record its best ever World Rowing Under 23 Championships performance in Poznan, Poland.

There will be a record Scottish presence on the GB Rowing Team for the World Rowing Under 23 Championships which get underway today in Poznan, Poland, with finals taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

Sixty-five athletes will represent the Scotland Rowing Team at this year’s Home International Regatta (HIR), the prestigious one-day competition between four nations being held in Cork, Ireland, this Saturday (21st July).

Scottish Rowing is delighted to announce the relaunch of our Regional Development programme. This move recognises the need to increase the focus on key strategic areas such as competition, coaching and volunteering and targeting support for our clubs more effectively.
In addition to their existing regional responsibilities, each of our three Regional Development Managers (‘RDM’) will be taking on operational responsibility for one of the areas identified as a critical priority in our strategic plan for 2017-21 with immediate effect.

North Lanarkshire Council have advised that Glasgow 2018 will take possession of Strathclyde Country Park as part of the upcoming European Rowing and Triathlon Championships this summer.
This multi-sport event will take place across Scotland from the 2nd August until the 12th August and, due to the install and set up of the infrastructure required for both events, there will be no water access from Monday 9th July until Sunday 19th August.

With the British Masters Championships being held for the first time in many years the weekend after Scottish Championships, four clubs from Scotland went to Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham, to fight for some medals. The weekend saw 221 races being held across all age categories in both Championship and Non-Championship categories.

North Lanarkshire Council have advised that, from 11th June, they will be replacing the current rowing course at Strathclyde Country Park which may cause some water access restrictions due to periods of closure. They are hoping that this work will be complete no later than the end of June.
It has been recommended that anyone planning to come to the park to use the Loch should contact North Lanarkshire Council beforehand on 01698 402060 to check availability.
