Alistair was introduced to rowing in the late 70s at City of Glasgow ARC. Whilst he thoroughly enjoyed the sport, his competitive success was limited. As Alistair says, “I didn’t lose every race I took part in”.

He became involved in the organisation side of the sport and has been in charge of medal presentations at Scottish Champs since 1981. He has been on the SR Domestic regatta organising team since 1984 and has involved in the running of all of the major international regattas at Strathclyde Park since the early 90s.

Alistair is a member of Strathclyde Park Rowing Club.

Sophie

Sophie McCall

Sophie learnt to row on the Tay with Dundee University Boat Club and her love of rowing led to her developing a career in sport. Sophie currently rows with Clydesdale ARC, as well as being a qualified coach and tutor for British Rowing.

Throughout her career Sophie has worked for a number of sports governing bodies including Scottish Cycling, Scottish Rowing, BUCS and Scottish Swimming, as well as having had the opportunity to work at a number of major events including Commonwealth Games, European Championships, World Championships and World University Games.

Sophie is a passionate ambassador for the power of sport and hopes to use her experience and skills to support the development of rowing in Scotland so that everyone has the opportunity to experience the incredible power of our sport.

Dorothy Roberts

Dorothy learnt to row, as a student, on the Union Canal in Edinburgh. She progressed to racing internationally and retired after a career encompassing three Olympic Games and five World Championships. She moved on to work at UK Sport and then at the sportscotland Institute of Sport before moving to a role in the Performance Team at Scottish Swimming.

Having experience as athlete, coach, service provider and manager she has a solid understanding of the challenges that sports face in the performance sphere at both strategic and operational levels.

Laura Graham

Laura has been a member of the Scottish rowing community for around fifteen years, having taken up the sport as an adult through a Learn to Row course at SPRC. She enjoys the social, emotional, and physical benefits of training and competing with her teammates, particularly the annual club trip to race at World Masters.

Laura’s day job is in the field of sport and exercise academia where she has particular interest in sport education, coach development, and social issues in sport.

Laura enjoys using her experience and skills wherever possible as a volunteer helping to support rowing in Scotland. She is a qualified coach, working mainly with novice seniors at SPRC, a Consultant Coach Educator for British Rowing, and has been Club Captain at SPRC for several years. When not rowing, Laura teaches yoga classes, splashes around on paddleboards and in kayaks, and walks her dogs.

Finance Director

Alastair Clarkson

Learning to row on the Union Canal in Edinburgh, Alastair rowed as a junior in Scotland in the late 1970s and early 1980s before continuing to row throughout his time at University. He now has a daughter who is a passionate rower, which has reminded him of the physical and mental benefits from rowing, and does some coaching back at his University.

Alastair spent his Executive career in various senior leadership roles in Finance and Risk within the financial services industry. He is an experienced Non-Executive Director, sitting on the Boards of 3 insurance companies, chairing the Audit Committees of 2 of these and sitting on the Risk committees of all three. In addition to this he sits on the Board of Venture Trust, a third sector charity.

Board Jonny

Commercial Director

Jonny Logan

Jonny Logan began his involvement with Scottish Rowing in 1994, as a J12 rower for George Watson's College, in Edinburgh. Over the next 18 years he competed for Glasgow University, Clyde ARC, Glasgow RC, Marlow Rowing Club and Leander Club, ultimately winning 5 Commonwealth gold medals for Scotland, as well as 7 Home International and 8 British Championship titles across various boat classes.

Jonny holds a masters degree in Naval Architecture from Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities and has worked for the international offshore engineering and consultancy company, Global Maritime, since 2012. In 2019 he was appointed Chief Executive of Global Maritime Group and has since been responsible for the entire global business, comprising 5 main service areas, delivered by over 300 personnel in 23 offices across 18 different countries.

Jonny is delighted to be given the chance to join the Board of Scottish Rowing and to have the opportunity to give something back to the sport that he feels has given him so much.

Robert Gordon

Robert Gordon is the current President of Inverness Rowing Club, where he has been a club member for approximately 10 years and a board member for the last 8 years.

As well as regular outings in the pair on the Caledonian Canal, Robert enjoys walking and cycling.

Robert spent over 30 years working in the logistics sector as a director and owner of JBT Distribution, selling the business in June 2021.

Robert is married to Avril and has two daughters Heather and Louise.
