Battle in Banyoles: Scottish Masters Rowers Gear Up for World Championships

Scottish athletes are preparing to make an impact on the international stage as an incredible 178 crews Scottish representation are gearing up for the 2025 World Rowing Masters Regatta in Banyoles, Spain, next week (10–14 September). This marks the largest Scottish turnout since 2017, with athletes from nine clubs — Aberdeen BC, Clydesdale ARC, Castle Semple RC, Glasgow RC, Inverness RC, Loch Lomond RC, St Andrew BC, Stirling RC, and Strathclyde Park RC — ready to take on the world. The four-day regatta promises thrilling competition across all boat classes and age categories, setting the scene for an unforgettable showcase of strength, skill, and Scottish spirit.

Scottish athletes walked away from a blustery Knoll Beach in Studland with five Gold, three Silver and three Bronze medals at the final domestic event of the Beach Sprint season. Thirteen Scots travelled down to the south of England for the championships, many of whom will be hopeful to represent Great Britain or Scotland over the International stage of the season at the World & European Championships, HIR Beach Sprints and the Commonwealth Rowing Association Beach Sprint Championships.

Victory for GB & Saints rower Sophia at World University Games

Great Britain won five medals (three gold, one silver, one bronze) and topped the medal table at the FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany last week, with University of St Andrews’ Sophia Issberner part of the Women’s Eight that won gold on Sunday.

Minister for Sport Praises Growth of Inverness Rowing Club During Club Visit

Scotland’s Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Maree Todd MSP, recently visited Inverness Rowing Club to see first-hand the remarkable transformation of one of Scotland’s most ambitious community sports clubs.

The visit marked a celebration of the club’s extraordinary growth over the past five years - from just 65 members and no mains electricity in 2019, to a thriving hub of over 125 members, modern facilities, a growing fleet of boats, and a vibrant outreach programme serving young people and underrepresented groups across the Highlands.

A trio of wins for Scottish Clubs at Henley Women’s Regatta during a busy final day of racing

Two Scottish Coaches selected for new UK Sport “Athlete to Coach” Programme

We are pleased to share that Perri McCluskey (Scottish Rowing) and Dale Flockhart (Edinburgh University BC) were selected for the ‘Athlete to Coach’ programme following nominations from British Rowing & Scottish Rowing.
