REGATTA READY DAY - 14th April 2024

Regatta Ready Day is a great opportunity to get a feel for side-by-side rowing prior to the major multi-lane regattas of 2024. We will have stake boats available for attachment practice, a time trial for crews who may wish to see how they fair amongst their peers, and lanes on the regatta course open to clubs and coaches to provide squads with their own club training session.

All of the activities are completely FREE to attend – INCLUDING access to the loch!

Inside the SRC, we will have a number of indoor workshops available – where we will provide education and discussion opportunities for athletes and coaches.

Our brilliant competitive events would not be possible without the help of our volunteers and umpires, Regatta Ready Day provides the chance for invaluable training and upskilling, along with general information about how our competition days will run and a chance to try new volunteer roles – so the day really will have something for everyone! If you have never volunteered at an event before this could be your chance to see what it’s all about!

Regatta Ready Day is free to all SR members, however, we ask you all to register for a place here. This will allow us to timetable sessions and breaks appropriately for the number of attendees and ensure maximum access to activities while maintaining the safety and enjoyment of all attending.

If you have any questions – please see our FAQ below.

Still not sure? Ask us any questions here!

We look forward to seeing many of you at the SRC in April for a fantastic day of activity that is sure to help you prepare for the multi-lane season!

Frequently asked questions:

I want to attend without a coach – is this possible?

  • Yes! If you are over 18, you may attend Regatta Ready Day without a coach. We will collect more information on who you will be attending with (coach/club/crews) closer to the event.

I do not have a current Scottish Rowing membership, how can I attend?

  • Simply purchase a Scottish Rowing membership via Just Go. We have a variety of options for the different categories – members with non-racing memberships can also attend this event. Get your membership here!

Can I take part in some of the planned activity and still have time to train with my own coach/club?

  • Yes! There will be a full programme of events which we will aim to timetable to allow crews to attend planned sessions along side “open” water sessions. When the full timetable is released, we will look to structure your day according to your preferences.

Can I take part in some of the on-water activity and also learn more about volunteering opportunities?

  • Yes! If you would like to volunteer at any SR events, or indeed learn more about how to help structure the volunteering at your home club events we would love to have you involved in some of the volunteer training alongside your water training at Regatta Ready Day.

I’d like to try volunteering but I’ve never done any event volunteering before – can I still sign up?

  • Yes! We would encourage anyone who may be interested in volunteering to get involved – Regatta Ready Day will give you the opportunity to find out what’s involved with no strings attached!

Do I have to be racing this regatta season to attend the day?

  • We believe the sessions available will build nicely into the multi-lane regatta season, however there is no requirement to be actively racing to attend the day. The event is designed for all Scottish Rowing members, we would love to see as many members out there enjoying the free water as possible!

I don't think I will have access to a boat that day - can I borrow one?

  • At the moment we have not arranged a boat hire schedule – if you think this would be an issue for you, please contact Gillian at rowingcentre@scottish-rowing.org.uk
  • If you or your club would like to offer the shared use of your boat/fleet – please do get in touch!

Is there parking on site for our trailers?

  • Yes! We will have allocated parking for trailers by the Scottish Rowing Centre. Vehicles will have to be removed to Car Park 1. Trailer allocation will be arranged in the follow-up information request closer to the event date. It may be possible to arrange for trailer access after Glasgow Regatta (13th April) – again this information will be gathered closer to the event date.

If the weather means we can’t get out on the water, are there other activities we can get involved with?

  • Yes! As we are all aware – the wonderful Scottish weather is not to be trusted! We will have a variety of indoor sessions available in any case, but in the event the weather prevents our outdoor sessions, we will have alternative activities scheduled.
