Junior Development Coaches

Scottish Rowing is looking to recruit ambitious and energetic volunteer coaches to support the Junior Development Pathway, including the Junior Academy programme and Scottish Argonauts projects.

We are looking for coaches who are eager to learn and develop their skills, who may have ambitions to coach on the Scotland Rowing Team and to contribute to the development of Scottish junior athletes. The Scottish Rowing Junior Development Pathway aims to improve the overall depth and standard of junior rowing in Scotland whilst also supporting the long-term development of Scottish junior rowers identified on a performance pathway.

Based at the Firhill Basin, we provide local young people with a number of free/affordable, accessible, and sustainable opportunities to become active and stay active in their local community through rowing and other water sports activities. We understand the necessity for young people to have meaningful opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity, and it is our mission to help break down the barriers that currently hinder their participation.

Recruitment privacy notice

When you apply for a role with Scottish Rowing we collect your application form or CV, your contact details, employment and education history, references, and your right to work in the UK. For roles working with children or protected adults we also collect a self-declaration and PVG scheme information.

We use this to assess your application, communicate with you, and meet our legal obligations - including safer recruitment. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in recruiting suitable people, and for pre-employment checks, compliance with a legal obligation. Where we collect information about health or disability, we use it only to make reasonable adjustments.

Equality monitoring information is optional, kept separate from your application, and never seen by the selection panel.

We share information with referees you have named, and with Disclosure Scotland for regulated roles.

If you are appointed, your application becomes part of your employment record. If not, we keep it for six months and then delete it - you can ask us to delete it sooner.
