The camps will be led by Mike Hughes (University of Edinburgh) with support from the Scottish Rowing Performance Pathway coaching team and other guest coaches. Mike is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading rowing coaches of university athletes. His beginner crews at the University of Edinburgh have dominated the podium at BUCS Regatta over recent years and this can be attributed to his warm and positive coaching style which focuses on individual athlete development and having fun in the process.
The 5-day intensive camps will focus on technical excellence and will help rowers improve their skill, confidence and boat speed in single sculls. With video analysis and access to the indoor rowing tank, the coaching team will provide in-depth individual feedback to athletes. Additional coaching sessions in the Scottish Rowing Centre will aim to improve physical development and movement patterns to support good health and wellbeing appropriate to the developmental age of the athlete.
Athletes should bring their own single scull to support their participation in the camp. A small number of single sculls are available to rent from Scottish Rowing and the University of Edinburgh for an additional fee – please contact rowingcentre@scottish-rowing.org.uk to arrange this. Boat storage will be available on site.
* rowing age as per 2022/23 season.
Camps are open to both Scottish and British Rowing members, follow the links below to book via Eventbrite. Please ensure you book the appropriate age group.
