The Scotland Rowing Team selection policy documents for the 2024 Home International Rowing Regatta (HIRR) and the Home International Rowing Beach Sprints (HIRBS) have today been published.
Scotland will host the 2024 HIR Regatta at Strathclyde Park on Saturday 27th July. In 2019, when the event was last held on home water, the Scotland Rowing Team won three out of four of the team trophies, the most successful campaign in Scotland’s history.
The 2024 HIR Beach Sprints will be hosted by England in Bournemouth on Saturday 28th September. The Scotland Rowing Team will be looking to regain the Guin Batten Trophy from Wales, who won last year’s team event in Saundersfoot.
Lee Boucher, Scottish Rowing’s Head of Performance and Pathways, said:
“The HIR events provide a unique opportunity for our rowers and coaches to come together in a team environment and represent Scotland in international competition, and over the years this has been a stepping stone for many onto the world stage. We are keen to identify a talented group of motivated rowers who can help the Scotland Rowing Team put down competitive performances at both HIRR and HIRBS this summer.”

Key Changes for 2024
The HIR Beach Sprints has introduced a new event for 2024 with the addition of an Under 23 mixed double scull (CU23Mix2x) taking the total number of athletes seats in the team up to 10.
Athletes and coaches should also note that a number of changes have been made to the selection policies this year, following previous feedback that was received. This includes:
Athletes should ensure that they read and understand the relevant selection policy, particularly any requirements around key dates of trials and assessments. A table of key dates has been added at the back of each policy as a helpful reminder.
HIR Registration 2024
All athletes and coaches seeking selection must complete the following online registration by Monday 3rd June. This form can be used to register interest in both the HIR Regatta and the HIR Beach Sprints.
