Coronavirus might have stopped us going out rowing and training at our clubs but despite that Scottish rowers are working hard to keep in touch and work out while staying in. With social distancing keeping us at home other than for essential trips, it has never been more important to keep in touch with family and friends and the rowing family is doing just that.

In the light of the announcement by the UK Government on 23 March, we would like to remind all clubs of our previous advice issued on 16 March to suspend all club activities . Clubs should comply fully with government guidelines at all times, to protect themselves, their members and the public during this time and in particular we would like to highlight the new guidance issued by the government requiring the public to stay at home at all times apart for in a limited set of circumstances.

The wellbeing, health and safety of all our particpants, staff, coaches, umpires and volunteers is a priority for Scottish Rowing. In light of recent developments surrounding COVID-19 we are monitoring the situation to ensure that we are responding quickly and effectively, and in line with the latest Government guidelines and recommendations. This is a unique and evolving situation for the UK.
Further to our statement on Monday 16 March, the Scottish Rowing Centre (“SRC”) is closed to all users. We have also been informed that although Strathclyde Country Park remains open, the Water Sports Centre and Strathclyde Loch are also closed.
The Scottish Rowing office in the SRC is closed but our staff are now working remotely and can be contacted by email. Contact details can be found HERE. As our small team is spread around Scotland, we are well accustomed and well equipped for this way of working and are looking at ways we can support our members in the coming weeks. We will continue to review and monitor government advice, and provide updates on the impact to our sport.

Scottish Rowing has reviewed the UK and Scottish Government moratorium on non-essential contact within new enhanced social distancing rules. We have concluded that rowing falls within this restriction and consequently advise that members refrain from training, competing and socialising within their clubs.

In view of recent developments surrounding COVID-19 and the current government guidelines in place, we have taken the decision to cancel the Scottish Rowing Spring Regatta which was scheduled to take place on the 25th and 26th of April.
We recognise that the rowing calendar has already experienced significant disruption this year but under the circumstances, we have to consider as a matter of priority the ability to run an event that maintains the wellbeing, health and safety of all our members, staff, coaches, umpires, and volunteers. Although the event is still 6 weeks away, entries were due to open on Monday 16th March and we have taken an early decision to avoid further uncertainty or financial outlay.
Please also note that the centre will be closed from Wednesday 18 March 2020 @ 5pm please contact us via office@scottish-rowing.org.uk or one of the contacts on the following page http://scottish-rowing.org.uk/index.php/about-us/people

Scottish Rowing will be using a new system for race entries for the upcoming Spring Regatta. The system uses a platform developed by Playwaze which has been specifically tailored for Scottish Rowing to be used for rowing events.
The new system will provide a consistent, user-friendly, way to make your entries and provides a number of payment options.
As with the previous entry system, clubs who wish to race at Spring Regatta will need to set up at least one administrator on the new system. Our aim is to have all admins set up prior to Spring Regatta entries opening on the 16th March and we would like to invite all clubs planning to enter to contact us at entries@scottish-rowing.org.uk.
When you contact us, we will set up your administrator account and offer you an opportunity to book a time for some 1-2-1 training and support.
