Grainger Takes Silver in Thursday's Olympic Racing

Posted: August 11, 2016

Katherine Grainger won British rowing's first medal of the Olympic regatta and the last one of her career when, along with partner Vicky Thornley, she took a hard-fought silver in Thursday's double sculls final.

By Grainger's own admission, she and Thornley had the most tortuous route to Rio, missing out on initial selection and only being added to the squad a matter of weeks ago.  This followed a season where the duo had failed to medal and posted some lacklustre performances.  But there was nothing lacklustre about today's race.

Posted: August 7, 2016

The first two Scottish rowers in action in Saturday's opening day of racing, Alan Sinclair and Katherine Grainger, successfully progressed to their semi-finals on Tuesday - both finished second in their opening heats on a day when conditions in the middle part of the course caused real havoc, with a capsize and boat-stopping crabs happening throughout the racing programme.

Have Your Say

Updated: August 18, 2016

Scottish Rowing's plans for the next 4 years (2017-2021) are now being developed and it is important that our members have the opportunity to input to this process.

The key themes have already been sent to club secretaries for circulation and comment within the club but in addition we are holding 3 consultation sessions across Scotland, hosted by Mike Morrice, President of Scottish Rowing.

These will take the form of a short presentation setting out the key themes for the next 4 years followed by a Q&A.  An overview of these key themes is available to view here.

Two gold medals for Urquhart in Poznan

Posted: July 31, 2016

Glasgow teenager Callum Urquhart helped Great Britain’s junior men’s four win back to back gold medals at the annual Coupe de la Jeunesse event in Poznan, Poland this weekend.

Great Britain has been successful at past Coupe events, considered unofficially as the junior European Championships, but it was beyond the 17-year-old’s high expectations to win both races this weekend.
