HIR Selection Policy

Posted: 18 January, 2019

Statement from Graeme Cunningham, Scotland Rowing Team Manager.

The 2019 Home International Regatta will take place at Strathclyde Park on Saturday 27th July.

The Scottish Rowing High Performance Group has delayed the publication of the athlete selection policy document and online athlete registration,  due to Scottish Rowing's competition review.

The policy will be published subject to approval from the Scottish Rowing Board within the next 2 weeks.

I would like to take this opportunity to assure athletes and coaches looking to implement plans for the rest of the season that the proposed policy will be broadly similar to that implemented in 2018.  The Scottish Rowing Championships will remain the key selection regatta with athletes required to compete in either the 1x or 2-.

As has been the case in in previous years there will be requirement to submit details of selected ergometer performances.

The proposed submission deadline  for the first assessment, a 5km (5km R26 for Junior), will be Monday 18th February.

Athletes seeking selection are therefore reminded to ensure that they schedule to complete the assessment before that date and that they record the details of the performance (including a  photograph of the result).  Details of how to submit the result will be provided when online registration opens.

If anyone has any specific questions then be please contact me.

On paper one might expect the Rio silver medallist to be putting in good performances at this stage of the Olympic cycle.  But life for the Edinburgh 30 year old has been anything but routine since Rio.
