The Scottish Argonauts Project offers a unique opportunity for Scottish junior rowers to train and compete in eights at national-level events, specifically the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race(14 March 2026) and the Head of the River Race (28 March 2026) on the Tideway. This long-standing initiative is a key component of the Junior Performance Pathway.

Eligibility
We aim to enter one crew for each event (Women’s and Men’s). Athletes wishing to apply should first speak with their coach before completing the application form below.
Please note: Current Junior Academy athletes do not need to apply.

Crew Formation
Once applications close, shortlisted athletes will be invited to attend a training weekend.
Please note: An invitation does not guarantee selection for the final crew.
Training Weekend Details:

Event Weekends
Dates: Women’s Head, 13 – 14 March. Men’s Head, 27 – 28 March
Travel: Flight, Glasgow – London Heathrow. Departure Friday morning – return Saturday evening.
Accommodation: Premier Inn, Putney Bridge
Meals Provided: Friday lunch and dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch. Athletes will also have the opportunity to purchase additional snacks locally.
Kit: Selected athletes will be provided with Scottish Argonauts racing kit (AIO & Baselayer) and a cotton T-shirt.
Estimated Cost: £350 per person (to be confirmed closer to the event)
