From Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May, ASRA athletes joined 4,000 junior rowers from all over the U.K. to take part in the annual National Schools' Regatta at the English National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. Against a background of a whole series of spectacular medal-winning performances, special mention has to be made of ASRA's Junior 15 Boys' Four which not only won gold and with it the prestigious Mariners Cup, but also shattered the record for their event which had stood for the last 14 years by an almost unbelievable 6 seconds.

Gold: Men's Junior 15 Coxed Fours

Silver: Men's Junior 16 Coxed Fours: Alistair Frost, Andrew Main, Lawrence Jennings & George Turner, coxed by Sam Cassidy

Bronze: Women's Junior 14 Double Sculls: Sade Igweke & Sam Cassidy Women's Junior 18 Coxed Fours: Amelia Donovan, Erin Wyness, Morven Shaw & Eilidh Thomson, coxed by Sam Cassidy Men's Championship Junior 18 Coxless Pairs: Lewis McCue & Elliot Bruce  

Commiserations to our Men's Junior 14 Quadruple Scullers whose race was called off for safety reasons and our newly formed Women's Junior 16 Pair - Cara Napier & Erynn Fraser - who were unfortunate enough to be drawn in the semi final that produced the eventual winners of the event.

The medal haul produced by ASRA saw them placed 15th in the medal table, beating junior rowing giants such as St Pauls and Latymer Upper.

Our thanks as always to the parents and friends who travelled all the way to Nottingham to help with transport and to support our efforts on the water.
