Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club’s 14th Corporate Regatta saw companies from Glasgow and the surrounding area to take part in their annual Corporate Regatta last weekend, and included a visit from one of Scotland’s medal winning Olympians.
Training over 7 weeks in the summer, the crews learn to row in coxed 4's with their first session at the Scottish Rowing Centre followed by 6 water sessions on the River Clyde at Glasgow Green. With dedicated coaches from the club supporting the crews they learn much more than just the basics. This is a lesson for them in teamwork, trust, communication, resilience and sheer hard graft!
The annual regatta event is a fundraiser for the club, as well as a source of new members keen to develop further in the sport. This year it has also provided Clydesdale with the opportunity to highlight their fundraising effort with the Boathouse appeal – you can find out more about this here:

The emphasis on regatta day is very much on fun. Crews arrive in fancy dress, family, friends, children and colleagues and even the odd CEO arrive to join in the party atmosphere. With face-painter, music & commentary throughout the day and a lunch time erg race and BBQ all ensuring that there is a real buzz about the West Boathouse.
This year we were honoured to welcome Olympic silver medallist Polly Swann to present the winning crew from Sgurr Energy with their prizes.
The benefit for Clydesdale extends beyond the day itself. Many of their members joined from experiencing the corporate event proving that this event in the club calendar has both synergy and legacy.
